Like many, I have some slot car racing memories going back to the 1960's and 70's - though my current interest goes back to around 2000 or so, when I received an HO set as a gift. Shortly thereafter, I discovered Fly 1:32 scale cars as well as some of the other modern makes, and set aside the HO track to buy a few large sets of Artin 1:32 scale track, which was popular (and very affordable) at the time. This culminated in my first home track, Circuit Schweiz-Baden, which was active for about five years. Due to work and other factors, the track fell into disuse for several years, until I decided to take it apart and build a new track late in 2009.

A new and larger track, The Schweizering, utilized much of the Artin track I had collected over the years, although the track seams were filled, sanded, and the surface painted. In addition, the rails were covered in copper tape, much like a routed track. I spent about 7 years building and enjoying that track, until we began a basement remodeling project a while ago and I was forced to remove it completely.

Since the remodeling is almost complete, I have thought about a way to build a new track that will fold up against the wall in the same part of the basement as the old ones. However, I have recently revised that plan and will now be able to reclaim most of the space I had used before, with some modifications. I hope you will stop back to share the building process on that project; for now, I am collecting the stuff I need to construct the new track and inventorying my collection, which has started to grow again!
